When I began this blog, it was with the simple intention of recording my family stories and hosting a forum where my husband's family and my own family could keep in touch with our lives, especially in the case of those far away who we rarely see.
I thought that people might write (comment) at least once in a while in response; you know to let me know they're out there, or to share some news of their life.
The surprising blessing was the friendships made along the way, with a few faithful family members whom I wouldn't have had the easy chance of getting to know if it hadn't been for the blog, and the modern-day-pen-pals that I made around the globe.
There were also connections made through mention of particular subject matter involving history that only resurfaced because of my writing about it here. Many of those contacts were only known to me, behind the scenes, through emails.
But all things come to an end.
Romance doesn't last, love is sometimes questionable, jobs change, roles change, and...
... sometimes one's effort comes to an end because of lack of enthusiasm either on the part of themselves or others. There will now be more time to devote to my monthly column, to see where that might lead. My photography will continue and will be shared on my Facebook page because that's where it seems to have been met with the most enjoyment.
I also have a book project that I've begun compiling.
So without further delay, I bid you fond farewell.
Remember: All of my 936 posts are
available to read on the archive

Well, I'm not family...but I have enjoyed your blog. Some of your entries have really touched a cord with me. I will miss it.
what the heck?
I feel like Im being dumped :(
Like when a great book has a bad ending...
like a friend is moving away...
how will I be able to know what Sarah is up too?
where can I find your beautiful photography?
how will I be able to smile realizing someone out there "gets" me?
how will I be able to know what to expect is coming our way weatherwise?
The end is so final...
I will have to start bugging you via emails.
I am Blessed to have you as a "friend". Though we have never met I feel I know you will. I have kept you & your precious family in my heart & prayers and will continue to do so.
When I began my Blog, I was looking for an outlet to express myself, feelings and was so surprised to receive comments, see that I am "normal" and to make a world of friends.
I have learned that we may not all be alike but we all have much to say and valuable opinions. I have learned much through Blog World and for that I am so grateful.
I may not have commented to every post, and may not have read every one (although... pretty close) but have savor all you have written. Your vision. Count me as one of your biggest fans Linda. I hope that our friendship will continue. And I selfishly hope you will keep writing in Over The Fence from time to time♥
Love you so much!
Oh Linda. I'm sorry to read about your blog coming to a close, but I do understand. I know it takes me 30 minutes to write a little post with 3 pictures. I know yours are rarely so short, so I do understand the time committment.
I often feel like I write only for you and Gwynne. But I know that my kids will one day enjoy reading about their childhood. After they are grown, I doubt I'll keep up with it.
I bid you a fond farewell.
Love,
g
Thanks for your sweet comments, dear friends, and dear niece. :)
For the three of you who commented here, you know that you can still keep up with whatever is happening in our life through the Facebook page because that's where I've been posting all of the photos all along. True, I won't be writing big stories there, but photos tell stories too! :)
Love to you,
Linda
Linda,
I have to say I didn't read everyone but the ones I did read I enjoyed! You are a great writer and and awesome cousin. Love you!
Thank you for sharing your life with us. I look forward to seeing more of your photos and reading you in "The Press"
Linda, I am will miss your writing terribly, but I understand. I hope we can keep in touch in other ways.
Love Heather
Oh nooooo, I finally get the time to come catch up with your news and I read this:-( I know that sometimes I don't come to visit for a few days but I always do enjoy catching up on your posts. Of course I do understand why you're walking away from your blog, goodness knows I can't spend the time I would love to on blogging but you will be missed terribly on here. I'm just so happy that I have you on Facebook and I must try to comment on there a bit more often!! I don't want to lose touch with you because I consider you a true friend, someone I can always rely on to be there for me...and I hope you know it's vice versa. Don't delete your blog, maybe one day you'll come back to it because you'll miss it too darn much:-) Love you my friend. xoxo
Thanks again and Pea, no worries - I'm not deleting it because it's tied to my newspaper column and it will remain here as a collection of stories - there's a lot of "oldies but goodies" to be found in my archive at the bottom of the screen.
I have however, fully downloaded and printed as a volumne of books, the entire blog. The entire thing is 8 volumnes long, and about 500 pages printed per book. Someday I'll have them bound to pass onto our children/grandchildren.
In the meantime, it's onward to new adventures! :)
Love,
Linda
Dear Linda, I'm sorry I missed out on your last many posts before this farewell. Where does the time go? I just read back all the way to the roses in your parents yard. The cardinal photos are absolutely gorgeous. I felt like I could just reach out and ruffle their feathers. How brilliant they are against the snow. I'm sorry to hear that you will no longer be posting on your blog. I don't do Facebook, but hope you will continue to visit me and leave a comment ever so often. There's always email and snail mail too. You take care! Best wishes always, Tammy
Gosh Linda...I'm sort of speechless. Certainly sad that I won't see you here anymore. Thank you for your friendship, your inspiration and letting me be "part of the family". I hope you continue to grow and enjoy and bloom!!! You are amazing and will surely be missed!!! I'll try and find you on Facebook. (even though I'm mostly a lurker)
Heck...I miss you already!!!!
xoxoxo~
(not gonna say "goodbye")
I am going to miss you so much Miss Linda! I will make sure to hack my mother's facebook and leave you little letters every now and again! Good luck with all of your future endeavors I wish you the best of luck!
I guess I'm a little late to the party, but I found this site at about 3:30 this morning while looking for a picture of my great-grandfather online. How did I get here, you wonder? My great-grandfather was William Bates Price, one of the owners of the old Price and Teeple piano factory. I found a photo of a partial brick wall of their old factory that you mentioned in this blog: Tuesday, March 8, 2011
A step into the past ~ Part IV
We all have a history. Yep, we all have a history and I'm trying to find mine. You have part of it and I'm asking your permission to use that photo in my family tree on good old W.B.'s page so we can all find out more about him. I would just like to mention that I also lifted a recipe from your pages and I love the snow pictures you recently posted. I hope your next venture is as satisfying as this seemed to be. I've bookmarked the place and will read your archived blogs as time allows. Thanks for the little serendipitous moment you gave me.
Deb,
I'm so blessed by your comment. Thank you for posting. Yes, of course you may use the photo and I'm glad you found a blessing from my blog.
At the urging of my daughter, I have begun a new blog, though I'm not sure what path it will take yet. At any rate - it's here:

Kindest regards,
Linda
