The January full moon is known as the Wolf Moon.
It was particularly haunting this morning as it began to set while we were leaving for work at 6:30 a.m. All I have with me is my smaller purse-size Nikon and I snapped this photo before I left the driveway. Grainy quality, but I like it just the same as it appears all spooky behind the tree branches.
There is obviously a natural climate change that has been occuring over the past many years. Our winters are not what they once were here in the north. The lakes and rivers don't completely freeze over anymore, if at all. We still normally get some very cold snaps, but they never last more than a few days and any snow cover that arrives from storms, doesn't hang around very long.
The ground is soft enough to work in, nothing is dormant, buds are on the trees, some leaves are opening, and the roses in my parents' yard are still continuing to bloom. I meant to take some pictures of them a few weeks ago when they were fresher. They are a little weary now after the last cold snap, but still are opening.

So love the moon capture amongst the trees. Gives it such a depth.
Have a beautiful week ~

Oh Linda, that moon shot is indeed very spooky looking and yet beautiful. I had never heard of the "wolf moon" until I started reading about it in other blogs. See, proves one is never too old to learn something new:-)
It's amazing that you still have flowers blooming! We don't have half the snow we usually have for this time of year but there is certainly nothing blooming because of some of the frigid temperatures we've had. Mother Nature seems to be very confused lately:-) xoxo
I love the moon, it has been super bright the last couple of nights. Climate does change, it's part of the natural history of the earth. It will go back again and be cold someday.
