Who would ever be ready for this to end?
Celebrated our "adopted daughter's" 16th Birthday. She was born just a few slight minutes past Midnight on New Year's Day. It's the only time I've ever served and ate Birthday Cake at 12:05 a.m. but we've done this two years in a row. :)
Should have taken a video of our super fantastic whistle band. Ha ha. These were in the "musical crackers".
Truth: I'm not happy unless I'm planning the next big event. Guess I better get busy.
P.S. I adore this picture of Jim and I. Truth: he would have liked for me to post the picture of him without the curl in the middle of his forehead, but truth - I like this photo better than the other one. You can see them both here in the smaller snapshots from my totally awesome Facebook albums.
When the fiddle had stopped singing Laura called out softly, "What are the days of auld lang syne, Pa?"
"They are the days of a long time ago, Laura," Pa said. "Go to sleep now."
But Laura lay awake a little while, listening to Pa's fiddle softly playing and to the lonely sound of the wind in the Big Woods.
She looked at Pa sitting on the bench by the hearth, the firelight gleaming on the honey-brown fiddle. She looked at Ma, gently rocking and knitting.
She thought to herself, "This is now." She was glad that the cozy house, and Pa, and Ma and the firelight and the music, were now. They could not be forgotten, she thought, because now is now. It can never be a long time ago.

It looks like a great time, and I like the picture of the two of you too.
I am a bit like that too, as I am in the middle of one thing I am already looking at the next and how to make it happen.
Now that's what I call bringing in a new year the perfect way:-) You and I are so much alike in that we love to plan parties and make it special for our family and friends. I had a Happy New Year banner put up and other New Year decorations but I forgot to take pictures of them!! Duh! lol I love the musical hats and the whistles, I can well imagine how good the "band" sounded! hehe
Happy New Year to you and yours, dear Linda, I wish you the very best that 2012 has to offer!!! xoxo
