As usual, it's all about nostalgia when it comes to my favorites. Each one of my favorites gives me a mushy feeling inside and that's exactly how I like it.
These are not all traditional songs per se, there are a couple of narrations, a few New Year's Eve songs, as well as clips from vintage television specials that I grew up loving and still love.
Some of the songs, like Feliz Navidad and Wonderful Christmastime, though entirely overplayed on the radio, still remain favorites because of the connection in my mind to those Christmas mornings with my three sisters, where our gift opening session lasted all morning and we actually had to take a snack break. There was never any random tearing into packages at our house. Instead, our family of six each took turns, one package at a time, and all of us were pretty spoiled, so it literally took us until Noon to open all of the gifts. All the while, the radio would be playing continuous Christmas music and those two songs in particular, were silly favorites of ours.
In a few cases, I've mentioned entire albums, rather than listing all of the songs that are on them.
There are so many versions of many of these songs, but I really do not like most contemporary versions. I think there's only one new release on the list.
I've listed the artists that are my favorites when it pertains to each song. I'm sure I've forgotten some and I'll hear them later and return to add.

You have a wonderful list and I like many of those same songs too. Thank you for sharing it.
Love your playlist! Love the stories behind it!

Wow! How in the heck can you even remember all those songs even exist? I am so bad about the names of songs and who sang them. Some of those are my very favorites too. But where in the heck is Johnny Mathis on that list? I just love his Christmas album. I remember it being played oh so long ago. Little Drummer Boy was my favorite song. My all time favorite Christmas song is Oh Holy Night. I have a cassette tape with that song sung by a country music star, can't remember who, but it always gave me goosebumps. Unfortunately, can't listen to it now because I no longer have a cassette player in my car. :/ Hope your Friday is a good one. :) Tammy
I really like your playlist. I am familiar with just about all of them. Linda, are you feeling just a little sad this Christmas? Maybe I am reading something in your post because the holidays tend to wear on us. I know your little girl is growing up so fast, she really is a sweet girl, your doing. Thank you for coming by, have a nice weekend.
I adore Christmas music as well and start playing it right after Halloween! lol I have pretty much all of the songs/artists you listed here on one record or another and have listened to them every Christmas time since I can remember. I remember mom playing the Ames Brothers (popular in the 50's & 60's) Christmas album and how I loved that quartet and how they sang some of my favourites. I just went on YouTube and found some of those songs...ah, memories:-) xoxo
